Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Modular Meal?

The idea behind these meals is that we offer you carefully prepared, from-scratch meals that you can do what you wish with! Have one meal for dinner each weeknight, add meat to your breakfast eggs, or use it to create an easy, delicious school lunch for your kids. Examples: add chicken stock, chopped carrots, celery, and rice, and you have a soup! Shred chicken for easy chicken tacos, or chop with pickles and mayo for a delicious chicken salad your kids will love!

How many meals will a weekly purchase serve?

The average servings you can get from a weekly meal purchase is 3-5 (dinner) meals for a (young) family of four. This will of course depend on the age of your children, and their appetite! If you choose to use the food to make other dishes (see above) or eat it for more than 1 meal a day, your food may go faster! Our meal service is flexible, allowing you the freedom to do what you wish once the food is in your hands. We do the hard work of the cooking and clean up. How (and how fast!) you want to eat it, is up to you!

Purchase the weekly Modular Meal service and receive:

  • 1 protein (add-on protein available for purchase)

  • 2 sides

  • Nutrition and cooking tips

  • Heating instructions and meal inspiration

  • Eat as is for family meals (just add rice, pasta, stock for a soup, and more) or transform in a delicious school lunch

A la carte options are available; including 1/2 and whole frittatas, bone broth (receive $5 off for purchasing with a modular meal), protein, sides and more!

Why did you start this company?

I have been passionate about food since I was a little boy, watching and helping my grandmother and Italian aunts cook long laborious meals with love. I take pride in cooking for people and having a part in their daily nourishment. Since becoming a dad (10 years ago now!), I have realized even more how important eating healthy, real foods is, and it is a passion of mine to cook for my family. And now, for yours! :) Learn more about Lineage Meals and Chef Charlie here.

What is your specialty? Pro tip: Chefs hate this question ;)

I actually never liked this question until I realized that my true passion in food was feeding the body through nourishment, and not entertainment (highly palatable, processed, and fast food fried in seed oils). By treating our food as nourishment, and not approaching it as entertainment, we can begin to retrain our views and see food for what it really is-fuel for our bodies. Food purely as entertainment, has become a major culprit for the dysfunction in how we eat. I focus on real food, grown or raised on this earth, not created in a lab.

Can I order just one meal at a time? My friend just had a baby, and I want to gift her a meal.

We would be honored to provide nourishing meals for your friend and her new family. At this time, we do not offer one-off meals, but we would be happy to provide a week’s worth of modular meals for families in need of support with life’s transitions. Consider teaming up with other friends or your class and pitch in for a well-meaning and delicious meal service. Digital gift cards are available.

Do you offer membership programs or subscriptions or do I have to order each week?

Yes! We are happy to set up a weekly autopay program for you. It can be paused or canceled at anytime. Contact us at chefcharlie@lineagemeals.com for more information.

Why are you using Glass containers? How does your reusable glass program work?

Research shows that storing and serving food (especially hot) can cause harmful chemicals to leach into your food. It is best practice to store food in glass or silicone materials. Your meals will be cooled and packed in glass containers with ice and in an insulated bag (if necessary). When you sign up with Lineage Meals, you will be asked to pay a small deposit to reserve two sets of glassware for your family. This will be used to package your meals. When you are finished with your meals, we ask that you please rinse the containers free of food (or wash in fragrance-free dish soap if possible) and drop off the glass with your next food pickup. When you are ready to discontinue or end your meal service, simply return the glass to us, and you will get your deposit returned!
